August 2005
August 1st- Fire Alarm- Officers responded to the Administration building on report of a fire alarm. The alarm was caused by construction in the building.
August 1st- Agency Assist- Officer J. Ross responded to a traffic accident at University Parkway and Geneva Road.
August 1st- Agency Assist- Officers Sprague and A. Smith responded to the area of Industrial Park Drive to assist with a search for two suspects that had been chased by Orem Police after they were spotted in a stolen vehicle.
August 1st- Agency Assist- Officer Sprague was dispatched to a residence in Orem on a panic alarm. Upon the officer's arrival, it was determined that the alarm system malfunctioned and no one was actually home.
August 2nd- Carbon Monoxide Alarm- A Officer responded to the Wee Care Center after the carbon monoxide alarm activated. No problem was found.
August 3rd- Medical- Officers along with Orem Paramedics responded to the Browing Administration building after a 6 year old female fell out of her wheelchair and suffered a laceration above her right eye. Orem Paramedics transported the young female to a local hospital for treatment.
August 9th- Traffic Accident- A unknown vehicle travelling at a high rate of speed left the roadway near Lot L. The vehicle struck and destroyed a tree and sign before hitting a chain link fence and another sign. Damage is estimated at $8,000. The suspect left the scene prior to the officer's arrival.
August 9th- Lost Child- Officers responded to the Administration building on a report of a lost 3 year old male. The officers were able to quickly locate the missing child and return him to his father.
August 13th- DUI- Officer Marble stopped a vehicle for speeding. The driver was intoxicated and was arrested for DUI.
August 15th- Traffic Accident- UVSC Police along with Orem Police and Fire units responded to a traffic accident at 800 W. 1200 S.
August 15th-Agency Assist- Officer Ross responded to a local store to assist Orem police with a individual that had locked their keys in their car.
Augusat 16th-Agency Assist- UVSC Officers assisted Orem Police with a Theft in Progress at Walmart.
August 18th- Road Rage- UVSC Police responded to a report of a road rage at the front of campus. The victim said a car nearly ran him and his kids over while driving recklessly through lot B. The suspect then got into a verbal altercation with the victim as the victim was trying to leave the parking lot. Officers are still attempting to locate the suspect.
August 18th- Death Notification- UVSC Officers provided death notifications to two employees of UVSC after their adult children died in a terrible accident in Provo. A total of four individuals died in the accident. Two of the victims were UVSC students.
August 23rd- Medical- UVSC Officers along with Orem Paramedics responded to the Browning Administration building on a report of a male that collapsed while standing in line. The student was evaluated and released on scene.
August 26th- DUI- Officer Sprague responded to the area of 1200 W 800 S on a report of a reckless driver. Officer Sprague discovered the vehicle pulled over near 1184 W 800 S. with the driver somewhat unresponsive and the engine still running and the vehicle in gear. The driver was taken by ambulance to a local hospital and later charged with DUI. This was her fourth DUI in less than two years. UPDATE: The female was arrested again on August 30th by Orem Police for DUI.
August 26th- Fight in Progress- Sgt. Smith and Officer Z. Adams discovered a fight in progress in a parking lot while patrolling the parking lots during the Welcome Back Dance. The officers were able to stop the fight and take two suspects into custody.
August 26th- Public Intoxication- Several people were taken into custody by officers during the Welcome Back Dance for alcohol related offenses. The suspects were released to sober friends and trespassed from the event.
August 29th- Medical- Officers along with Orem Paramedics responded to Student Health Services on a report of a 27 year old male having difficult breathing and chest pains. The patient was taken by ambulance to a local hospital for further evaluation.
August 29th- Medical- Officers along with Orem Paramedics responded to the Administration building on a report of a female that had collapsed. No further information is available.
August 30th- Medical- Officers along with Orem Paramedics responded to the Liberal Arts building on a custodian that had passed out and fallen. Investigation of the incident determined that the custodian may have been elctrocuted. He was transported to a local hospital for further treatement and is expected to fully recover.
August 31st- Traffic Accident- UVSC Officers along with Orem Police and Fire units responded to a traffic accident with injuries at 800 W. University Parkway.
