April 2005

  • April 1st- Possession Drug Paraphernalia- A officer was patrolling the north parking lots when he observed a male suspect that matched a description of a theft suspect. The officer made contact with the suspect and discovered the suspect was 17 year old male from ALL. It was also discovered that the male was in possession of drug paraphernalia in a Drug Free Zone as well as tobacco. The suspect was arrested and transported back to ALLC where he was cited and released to school administrators.
  • April 4th- Agency Assist- UVSC K9 Officer A. Smith along with his dog "Scar" responded to Maceys grocery store in north Orem to assist Orem Police with searching the store after a bomb threat was called in. No explosive device was found and the store returned to normal operations.
  • April 4th- Man WithGun- UVSC Officers responded to parking lot G on a report of a man sitting in his truck loading a pistol. Officers responded and located the suspect walking away from his vehicle. Contact was made with the suspect and Officers were able to locate the firearm which was still in the vehicle and unloaded. The man apologized for the trouble and said heforgot it was in his truck and was making sure it wasn't loaded before securing it in a safe location in his vehicle.
  • April 4th- Agency Assist- Officers responded to University Parkway and 1250 West to assist Orem Police and Fire units with a traffic accident.
  • April 5th- Agency Assist- Officer Barrett was flagged over by a citizen and advised of a traffic accident at 1200 W 400 S. Officer Barrett responded and assisted with traffic control until Orem Police arrived on scene.
  • April 5th- Trespassing- Officers were dispatched to parking lot V on a report form ALLC that four of their students were trespassing in the field to the east of the parking lot. The students were located in the trees and turned back over to ALLC officials. One student was charged with a tobacco violation.
  • April 5th- Trespassing- Officers were dispatched to ALLC on a report that two of their students had been caught smoking and one of them was on probation. The students were cited for tobacco violations and referred to juvenile court.
  • April 5th- Suspicious Circumstances- A officer was patrolling the parking lots when he observed a male suspect look into several cars. Contact was made with the suspect who said he was looking at stickers on windows. The officer pointed out that there were no stickers on the cars. The suspect is a current student at UVSC and was warned to stay away form cars that don't belong to him. The incident is still under investigation.
  • April 7th- Traffic Accident- UVSC Officers responded to a traffic accident at 800 West University Parkway. Orem Police and Fire units also responded. A adult female was transported by ambulance to a local hospital for injuries she received during the accident.
  • April 18th-Fire Alarm-A UVSC Officer responded to the McKay Events Center on a fire alarm. The alarm was caused by large construction equipment being used inside.
  • April 18th-Agency Assist- UVSC Officers responded to the Administration building to take a student into custody that was wanted by Orem Police Department. The student was turned over to Orem Police for questioning in a incident that had happened earlier in the day.
  • April 18th- Traffic Accident- A UVSC Officer responded to College Drive near lot L on a report of a traffic accident.
  • April 21st- Possible DUI- UVSC Officers made a traffic stop on a vehicle after information was received that the driver may be driving under the influence of alcohol. The driver was given field sobriety tests and was found not to be impaired although he had been drinking alcohol. The driver was advised to go straight home and stay off the road if he wanted to drink.
  • April 21st-Fight In Progress-Officers patrolling the Last Chance Dance observed a fight beginning between several male suspects. Officers intervened and separated the suspects. All suspects were issued warnings for Disorderly Conduct and asked to leave UVSC property.
  • April 25th- Possession Stolen Property-Officers arrested a UVSC student who was in possession of stolen property. The case is still under investigation.
