1986-2003: Continuous National Grants
Wrote and directed six national grants in ethics with National Endowment for the Humanities, the Department of Education, and the Fund for the Improvement of Post-Secondary Education, totaling over $1 million. Today the project involves approximately 300 faculty and 15,000 students nationally.
2000-2003 - Grant Director, Dissemination grant with Fund for Post-Secondary Education (FIPSE, Department of Education).
Initiated a new society "Ethics Across the Curriculum" and a new national pedagogical journal, Teaching Ethics. Coordinating activities with SUNY Plattsburgh and Miami Dade Community College. The society now has over 500 members and the national journal is now in its fourth edition. Funding and the program continue.
1998-2000 Grant Director, Dissemination Grant with Fund for Post-Secondary Improvement, (FIPSE).
“Ethics Across the Curriculum: Disseminating Successful Educational Reform" An estimated 300 faculty and 15,000 students are nationally and internationally involved in this program. Implementation varies according to needs of the institution. The program continues nationally and internationally. 1996-1998
Grant Director National Endowment for the Humanities. Focus Grant to disseminate ethics and ethics curriculum development to elementary and secondary school teachers. To continue the program, area k-12 faculty is invited to attend UVSC ethics programs.
1992-1995
Director and author of a three-year FIPSE grant entitled Ethics Across the Curriculum. Grant involves the participation of faculty in all schools, deans, Vice President for Academic Affairs and the President. Approximately 100 faculty and administrators are involved in integrating ethics into classrooms in courses in business, nursing, trades, technologies, vocations and liberal arts. About 3,000 students at UVSC are involved yearly. Responsibilities include overseeing budget; developing curricula; assessment; supervising mentoring project; arranging library acquisitions; planning and arranging scholars and other programs. FIPSE evaluates the project as exemplary and unique. The program and funding for the program continue at UVSC.
1990 - 1993
Director and author of a three-year NEH grant in History of Civilization and History of Science. Responsibilities include curriculum development, faculty development of twenty interdisciplinary faculty, student assessment, community involvement and library growth. The project is continuing even though the three-year funding has expired.
1986 - 1990
Director and author of an NEH grant in Ethics and Values that fully develops teacher training, student scholarship, community participation and library acquisitions in ethics. National scholars participate in quarterly lecture series and summer seminars. Responsibilities include curriculum development, faculty development of fifteen interdisciplinary faculty, student assessment, community involvement and library growth. The program and funding for the program continue at UVSC.

Academic Development

Developed an "Ethics Across the Curriculum" program which involves over 80 UVSC faculty from nursing, business, vocational and trades programs. Faculty participates in seminars with national scholars as well as receives mentoring from ethics professors at Utah Valley State College. Yearly about 5,000 students are affected by the program. The EAC program also involves national dissemination involving numerous colleges and universities, with over 300 faculty participants and 15,000 students.
